Billing Features
Advantagelaw pioneered features like billing reversal, split billing, parent-level billing back in the 80s. WinVantage 4 has more, like custom bill style formatting, and a powerful set of utilities that allows you to change or adjust virtually anything in the system. Every WinVantage 4 system comes complete with ABA standard task codes for task-based billing. Electronic billing (all types) is available.
The timesheet format lets you see all your day’s work in one place. Each transaction has an on/off timer and, since you’re usually working on several matters at once, it’s easy to switch from one task to another with just a click. Exploding text macros let you compose long narratives using point and click. Rate formulas provide you with unlimited billing overrides in an easy-to-use way.
Accounting Features
Trust accounting, accounts receivable, vendor invoicing, check printing and trust accounting integrate into client billing automatically – no need for redundant entry or special interfacing. Features like 1099 generation, check reconciliation, recurring invoices and duplicate invoice checking are standard. On-the-fly search windowing on all fields (a feature in all Advantagelaw systems) eliminates the possibility of charging the wrong client/matter or general ledger account. Every billing and accounting transaction in WinVantage is reconciled and balanced to the general ledger automatically. Financial states can be printed at any time.
Management and Financial Features
There are hundreds of reports available to accommodate law firm needs from large to small. And a My Reports option lets each user work with just those you need. Reports can be designed using an easy front end handling form, so you only view information you’re specifically looking for. Reports can also be exported to popular programs such as Excel, Word and others. System handles multiple profit centers as well as consolidated statements. You can budget attorney and matter, and measure performance against budget. Financial states can be printed at any time.
Case Management Features
WinVantage 4 lets you view case management information at the matter level, where critical events, conflicts, documents, notes, and other information can be viewed all in one place. Or view these functions across all matter lines, gathering all information in the system.
• General Information. Client, status, matter type, responsibilities.
• Profile Information. Plaintiff, insurance company, contact, intellectual property.
• Event Dates. Critical events like statutory dates, as well as personal calendar information. Automatically syncs with applications like Microsoft Outlook, so legal-specific and other information can be viewed and shared together.
• Case Notes. Unlimited text provides a continuing chronological narrative of the matter. Can be classified by subject and author so as to drill down to information specifics.
• Case Parties. The people involved, such as plaintiff, defendant, judge, or any user-defined relationship. Can be used as an expert witness database.
• Documents. Tracks incoming and outgoing documents. View all types of documents online, without having to go to hard copy. Searches by document type, keyword, text, Bates, recipient, etc., lets you browse through the selected group to find the information you need.
