| Tired Eyes PC Lens | Miscellaneous |
| I'm a geezer. I wear
bifocals, and have since that dreary day I first had to wear glasses. (The 200-watt bulb
in my reading light was the tipoff.) I've tried innumerable tricks to adjust my computer
monitor to the right height and distance so that I can see it and the documents on which I
am working. Regardless of what I tried, nothing seemed to work. After a couple of hours at
the computer, I always ended up with a stiff neck and sore shoulders from tilting my head
back to see the screen through the bottom portion of the lenses or from moving around so
the distance lenses would bring the screen into focus. I even bought a 21-inch monitor.
Nothing seemed to work. While walking around COMDEX last November looking at all the gee-whiz and flash, I saw a homely little booth with nothing but a computer monitor and a display of spectacles. The lenses weren't even in candy colors or fancy designer frames. What they were, however, was a godsend. Tired Eyes PC Lens are clear, clip-on lenses that correct everything that's wrong with my world. It seems many years ago, savvy ophthalmologist-types discovered that when we look at something at, or just below, eye level and about two to 4 feet away, our eyes tend to roll outward. This is called excyclorotation. The result, after prolonged staring at your screen is -- you guessed it -- tired eyes. TiredEyes.com distributes specs (made by Computer Lens Corp.) that correct this outward rolling. Tired Eyes also adds a small amount of magnification in the upper portion of the lenses. They're lightweight, durable, and even flip up out of the way when you have to get up to go to the necessary. (Of course, only the bold will do this as you really look goofy with the lenses flipped up. I can do it and get away with it. But then again, I'm really goofy.) They also have non-flip-up versions in three shapes that clip onto your lenses from the sides. The clip-ons come in small and large sizes. I managed to get a free sample of Tired Eyes at COMDEX. I tried them, and liked them so much I have since purchased two more pairs for myself. (I am so ashamed. My fellow schnorrers will likely shun me.) Because Tired Eyes do exactly what they are supposed to do, I would now be completely lost without them. |
