| Time Logger Version 3.0 | Time Capture & Billing |
A quietly powerful runner has entered the race for leading timekeeping programs
for attorneys. Wes-ting Software Inc.'s Time Logger 3.0 makes tedious timekeeping easier
and billing more reliable. Accurate billings are only as viable as the records they are based on. Time Logger creates records in a number of ways. The easiest feature to use is the stopwatch, which turns on and off with the click of a mouse. Editing start or stop times, pausing the stopwatch, or resuming the watch is easy. I found the ability to chain time records together by using the Stop/Start New button an outstanding feature. The time record list is easily customizable, using the mouse to add or remove a column, to change its width, or to reposition it. The filter option allows you to see only the records that you want, and you can set up to 11 criteria to define the records that will show up in the list. Time records are categorized by Client, Project, Subproject, and Activity, and using the filters, you can see just what you want or what you need. One of my biggest complaints about timekeeping programs has been difficult invoice generation. Acknow-ledging that word processors are best at laying out words and editing text, Time Logger uses the Windows DDE link to let you take that timekeeping data and place it in a word-processed bill. No programming, formatting or special document creation is necessary. Also significant is the ability to export data to either Quicken or QuickBooks, making accurate accounts receivable status easy to achieve. When printing an invoice, Time Logger will warn you if you are trying to include a time record which has already been billed in the invoice. |
