Executive Compensation Plan Documents on CD-ROM

CD-ROMs
Practice Specific

The SEC's EDGAR filing system, mandatory since 1996, requires that all SEC public filings be made electronically. While this puts a lot of information at hand, finding what you need when you need it can be difficult. Global Securities Information's Executive Compensation Plan Documents on CD-ROM, published by Glasser Legal-Works utilizing the powerful Folio search engine, makes these types of searches much more manageable.

For those unfamiliar with Folio, this package comes complete with "The Tour," a streamlined, well-planned introduction to using the infobases and search tools effectively. Also included is the distinctive "Search Strategies," which helps create accurate query phrases to lessen the occurrence of "false positives." These provide multiple search examples for both of the included infobases, the Plans infobase and the Proxy Statement Infobase.

Each infobase includes a search template that streamlines the search effort. Searches can be further narrowed or expanded by providing details such as state of incorporation, SIC code or industry keywords. Of course, templates can be customized and created for searches that are specially focused.

The backbone of the search engine is the query. Once the query has been defined, you can backtrack over information you have reviewed, you can follow or create links of various types, you can utilize the table of contents of a particular infobase, you can add notes or highlight specific areas of text. These customizations can be saved in a shadow file, so that multiple users can save their particular searches without interfering with the CD's base information.

With almost 10,000 plans and proxy statements on the Executive Compensation CD, learning how to effectively search for information is key to obtaining maximum benefit from the program. Fortunately, Glasser LegalWorks ensures substantial utility to the user by providing extensive help in learning how to search. For most of us, finding this type
of information is half the battle; Executive Compensation on CD-ROM makes for an easy victory in the information age.
