Professor Teaches Windows 98

Training

Individual Software's recently released Professor Teaches Windows 98 is an interesting introduction to Microsoft's latest operating system. The interactive CD-ROM is an all-in-one tour of the Windows 98 operating system and the Internet Explorer 4.0 browser. In all, the program will teach you almost everything you need to know about both programs.

The Windows 98 guide starts out with the definition of an operating system. From this simple premise, Professor tells us what's new in Windows 98, introduces the concept of the desktop and other Windows basics. Moving forward, the desktop is explored in detail, then files and folders and their management are examined, followed by Explorer. After this comes a detailed ex-planation of the concept of multimedia and hardware support. It was here that I learned one machine can support up to nine monitors at the same time (although, I also wondered why).

The guide to Internet Explorer (IE) is different from the Windows 98 guide. This guide is conducted by a "live" professor who talks to you before each lesson, telling you what's ahead. This guide is comprehensive, providing in-depth instruction on all IE-related functions. Professor Teaches Windows 98 is a terrific introduction to Microsoft's latest operating system. Users interested in making a change would be wise to make the investment.
