| Spellex Legal 7.0 | Utilities Word Processors & Suites |
| Spellex Legal 7.0 is an
easy-to-use, inexpensive spell checker of legal terms. This ad-on program, which is
compatible with Microsoft Word, Corels WordPerfect and Lotus Word Pro, works with
the spell checker already installed on your PC or Macintosh. The basic premise of the program is it adds legal terms into your word processors spell checker from all areas of law, including litigation, criminal, estate, family, intellectual property and malpractice. If you misspell a legal term, its caught when you run Spellex Legal 7.0. Initially, I had problems installing the software. The instructions in the Microsoft Word 2000 QuickStart card did not work. The path (in the instructions) to the executable file was wrong. I had to browse out to find the executable file. The first disk installed without problems. But when I put in the second disk, nothing happened. When I called customer service, a helpful and knowledgeable representative immediately (within 10 minutes) e-mailed the program to me and slipped the disks in the mail as well. He also offered tips on installation and how to use the program. This kind of on-the-ball customer service and technical support is extremely important for busy lawyers and other legal professionals. The second install loaded without a hitch. A Read Me file walked me through a simple procedure to activate the spell checker within my word processor. Next, I verified the installation was successful by running a spell test on a test document included with the Spellex Legal 7.0 program. The program caught the misspellings of legal terms such as disseisin, ejectment, emolument, subinfeudation and interrogatories. The program is easy to use because it works inside your word processors spell checker and saves you the time needed to look up words in a bulky legal dictionary, making it a welcome addition to any legal practice. |
