| Amicus Attorney 2.6 | Case Management |
| Version 2.6 of Amicus Attorney is now
available from Gavel & Gown Software Inc. There are several major enhancements in this
new version. The biggest enhancement is the direct connection with Timeslips. Although the original file import link from previous versions is still supported, version 2.6 includes a direct link that reads and writes directly to Timeslips. When you initialize the link, all clients from the Amicus database which are not already in Timeslips will be added to Timeslips, and vice versa. Thereafter, adding new clients to either system, or making changes to existing clients in either system, will be exchanged. Amicus time entries will post directly to Timeslips. You can also create expense slips in Amicus and post them to Timeslips. Support has been added for the Worldox document-management system as well. You can now add files to the Documents Brad in the Amicus Files dialog from Worldox. Files can then be opened from the Documents Brad. Another enhancement is the ability to use HotDocs Answer files. HotDocs Answer files allow you to save previously used document-assembly information. Answer file information can be merged along with Amicus data into HotDocs files. You can specify whether or not to use an Answer file on a document-by-document basis. The Define Master Document dialog includes a new check box. If it is checked, you will be prompted for an Answer file each time the document is generated. All variations of Amicus--i.e., Attorney, Assistant, and Administrator -- will be available on one CD. If you are installing team members, they can all be installed easily from the CD at one time. Setup Assistance has been improved for Windows 95 users. If you select the Run Program option, you can now browse for files using the 32bit (long filename) selection dialog. Other improvements include added support for the Dexco and Solace accounting systems. There is a new print option for months that allows a continuous print that begins or ends on any day. Users with a slow network should notice an increase in performance, particularly when working with the Calendar. When you minimize a window, such as Calendar, the minimized view will show "Calendar" instead of "Heather Gavel's Calendar" thereby allowing you to figure out which window is minimized.
