| FullAuthority 5.5 and 7.0 | Legal Research Utilities Word Processors & Suites |
Lexis-Nexis
(formerly Jurisoft) has released two new versions of FullAuthority, version 5.5 for
Windows 3.1 and version 7.0 for Windows 95 and NT. FullAuthority scans your briefs and
other documents for citations and creates a Table of Authorities, all without having to
first mark your citations.FullAuthority examines the citations in your document and then creates a separate Table of Authorities file that you can import into your word-processing document. The major benefit to using FullAuthority in lieu of WordPerfect is that you do not have to mark your citations with special codes before generating a Table of Authorities. Although FullAuthority is very accurate and inserts most, if not all, of the citations from your document into the Table of Authorities file, there are often formatting anomalies. FullAuthority includes a WordPerfect macro that fixes some of the formatting errors. However, it does not completely fix all the errors and you may have to adjust some formatting by hand. New features in version 5.5 include support for the additional codes added by WordPerfect 7.0 for Windows 3.x, but only if the document is first saved as version 6.x. There are also macros available to run FullAuthority from within Word 6.0 and WordPerfect 6.x. Page numbers should now be more accurate in your Table of Authorities, even when sections are used. New features in version 7.0 include support for Windows 95 and NT, support for WordPerfect 7.0 and Word 97 documents, the automatic detection of file formats, macros to launch from Word (6.0, 7.0, 97) and WordPerfect 7.0, an improved user interface and option set handling, and a network installation. A minor annoyance in version 7.0 is the inability to minimize the FullAuthority dialog. Also, version 7.0 seems to have trouble recognizing files saved in earlier versions of WordPerfect 6.x for DOS. Option sets are available to configure how citations are sorted in your Table of Authorities. You can also set editing options for expanding case name abbreviations, fixing reporter abbreviations, and fixing underlining errors. |
