Case Notes

You can keep virtually unlimited client and case notes by selecting the yellow Notepad located on the DDI Toolbar. The notepad can be accessed from "Setup," "Time Entry,"

"Billing," "Receipts," "Docketing," "Conflicts" and "Budgeting." First, enter the client/matter code (or look up by entering part of the case name). Then click on the Notepad option to add or edit existing notes. Do not enter a matter code if the notes pertain to the client and not a specific case. All case notes related to a common piece of information can be located through the Extended Data/ Conflict Checking search.

Please Get Me a Copy Of The Bill

How many times does an attorney need to quickly review a client’s last bill or last few bills while they are on the telephone with the client? And how many times does a client request a copy of a lost bill? Mirror images of one or more bills can quickly be recalled for viewing or printing by setting the archive option when posting the final bills to "Accounts Receivable." First, check the option to "Archive Bills" and then select the same format used for printing the actual bills. Normally you would use the "Standard Format" which automatically varies the format per the matter setup. If, however, a special mandated format is used for a specific client’s bills, those bills should be posted separately. To view or reprint bills, select "Reprint Posted Bills" from the "Billing" menu. You will be able to select a specific bill or select a range of bills for a client, matter, date or responsible billing partner.
