Import Data From Outside Sources

Timeslips includes an import utility that allows you to import data from outside sources. These sources include tab-, comma- and custom-delimited text files. Using this feature, information such as client, timekeeper and task records can easily be imported into Timeslips.

To import data into Timeslips, click "File," then "Import." From the "Timeslips Import" dialog box, click "File," "New" to open the "New Template" dialog box. Select the type of file that you will be importing and click "Next." Choose the type of records that you are importing and click "Finish." You will now see an empty import template that requires some information before importing your data. The first item asks you where to place the imported data. This will default to the most recently accessed database. The next option, "Get data from," requires that you locate the data you wish to import. When you enter this path you will notice that the field names of your selected database will be displayed in the "Source Data" column. You will then need to "match up" the available Timeslips fields with the data to be imported. Simply drag-and-drop the Timeslips field names from the "Available Fields" column into the "Selected Fields" column, and use the "Up/Down" buttons to match the field names. Once you have selected all necessary fields and options, click the "Import" button to begin the import process.
